The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, was the Chairman of the occasion at the Inauguration of Engr. Prof. Samson Olakunle Ojoawo, FNSE, FNICE, FNIEE, as the 5th Branch Chairman of NSE Ogbomoso Branch.

The President who was ably represented by the Deputy President, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, FAEng, MFR, commended NSE Ogbomoso Branch for being on the path of steady growth from its pupillage stages under Ibadan Branch, leading to its official inauguration in 2015 and even up till this moment. “This growth and expansion is evidenced in the rising membership figure and evolvement of the Branch Chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), and can be adduced to the pragmatic leadership insights of the past Chairmen and their respective Executive Committees.”

She acknowledge the immense contributions of Members of NSE Ogbomoso Branch to the advancement of their host institution, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), reiterating the fact that the impressive and unwavering dedication of NSE members to scholarly activities has contributed to the high interest for collaborations and linkages with LAUTECH shown by institutions both within and outside the country. “This is a testimony to the stellar scholarly outputs of both staff and students, which is duly commendable” – She remarked.

The President and entourage pays Courtesy Visit to the Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, ahead of the Inauguration Ceremony.

Madam President seized the opportunity of the Inauguration Ceremony to inform Members on the Council decision at its meeting of Thursday, March 14, 2024, where “Margaret Oguntala Presidential Strategic Agenda (MOPSA)” was expanded and re-christen to the “NSE Strategic Agenda”. The agenda is carried on five strong pillars – 1. Membership development. 2. Improving Intergovernmental/industry/Academia Collaborations. 3. Re-enforcing international relations mechanisms. 4. Re-imaging the NSE for enhanced publicity and governance structure. 5. Improved community impact.

The Inauguration Ceremony was a 2-in-1 event as Engr. Prof. Onifade Tawakalitu Bola, MNSE, MNIAE, MAPWEN, was Inaugurated as the 3rd Chairman of APWEN Ogbomoso Chapter.

The Guest Speaker and NSE Vice President (Professional Development), Engr. Ademola Agoro, FNSE, did justice to the theme – “AI SOLUTIONS FOR TACKLING TECHNICAL AND NON-TECHNICAL LOSSES IN NIGERIA’S POWER SECTOR: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES”.
